Dusting Off the Site - 28-12-2007
Wow, it has been awhile. I have been totally consumed with work but as things are leveling out I have found some time and decided to dust off the game project. With the release of XNA GS 2 and it supporting multiplayer, I think I can finally get this project off the ground. Look for new posts once or twice a week as I document my progress. I will also post on tutorials, interesting ideas, and articles I find while checking out resources as I find them. I do hope to complete this project in a timely manner but this project is done in my free time so it could end up taking months or longer. This weekend I will begin digging in. Thanks for the visit and if you are looking for more XNA resource, you might check out the XNAPortal.com links section.

Life Happens: Missing in Action... - 14-02-2007
I don't usually post things of a personal nature such as family, mainly because I am a private person and do not wish to air my dirty laundry on the internet. However, this is a post about my personal life so if your not interested, click a link and head out.
For everyone else I have some personal news on why things seems rather dead on my blog lately. My wife is eight months pregnant and the past couple of weeks have not been good. She has had a few complications and things are pretty busy in my life due to this. The doctors are not sure what is going on though they think it could be a condition known as Preeclampsia. She is in the hospital and the doctors are discussing taking the baby early. I also have three kids and all of them are sick at once. So between the two my time has been all about serving the greater good of my family and nursing my loved ones.
I do not know when I will have the time to get back to this blog. Once the baby arrives my world will turn into a sleepless blur of never ending diaper changing I am sure. Being cranky and tired all of the time does not a good blogger make. So my posting will probably be slim for the next month or so until things start to return to normal.
So, please, have some patience and don't dump my blog totally, I will return, it is just that while my Life is happening, I will be missing in action.
Thanks for reading my ramblings, I hope to return real soon.

My New Project - 07-01-2007
I have been working on a portal site for XNA called XNA Portal. (I know you read portal and groaned.) Well, hopefully this site will be useable. I have linked to all the major XNA sites RSS Feeds and used a custom RSS Feed reader/tracker. It is not a full reader, it only shows the post titles and takes you to the site for reading the articles. It also let's you add custom feeds so you can use it to track all the news feeds you want, XNA or not. I am also moving my XNA links to the site as well, though I am still working on that and it is not available yet. If you are interested, check it out at http://xnaportal.com and let me know what you think. Remember the site is still under construction...
I will be back to my own game project very soon. Once I get started, this blog will be used more. If you come here for the links and such, check out XNA Portal, all new XNA links will be posted there.

XNA Article in GI - 25-10-2006
Have you wondered why all the recent flood of newbie questions on the XNA MSDN Forums? It seems Game Informer did a 2 page spread on XNA (Issue 163, page 54).
Quote: "But is XNA Studio Express easy enough to use and understand that people with no programming experience can produce something playable? According to [Chris] Satchell it is."
The article goes on to talk about the community, mentioning 10 websites including TheZBuffer.com, LearnXNA.com, XNASpot.com, Xbox360Homebrew.com, ExDream.no-ip.info/blog/, ZiggyWare.com, XNADevelopment.com, XNATutorial.com, TheHazyMind.com/XNAEngine.htm, and Pilot.vector4.com/xnainfo/ and also has a link to the XNA GSE download. Also mentioned was TorqueX and a vague plan for how the XNA Creator's Club might work on Xbox Live. Most of the information covered in this article has been covered before by the XNA Team or the community. One or two interesting things mentioned, the XNA Developers Club could offer components that can be integrated into your project (pre-made art kits) and starter kits (basic FPS kit).
So, now you know why the forums are getting a bunch of new questions about using XNA, the number one gaming magazine just told the worlds gamers about XNA and told them they need no programming knowledge to use it ;)
